Next, powercycle your Cisco router. Before 60 seconds have elapsed from the time that youpower on the router, be sure to send a BREAK signal. This should be done eitherfrom the terminal or from the software being used.

Persons using Telnix should key in [CTRL-End]

Procomm users, key in [ALT-B]

Hyperterminal users, key in [CTRL-PAUSE]

The boot monitor prompt used for the 3800 ERM is ‘3800-ERM (boot)’. When you reach the prompt asking you to‘enter to boot’, key in ‘2’ and hit ENTER. Respond negatively when askedwhether you wish to change the configuration at this point. To set theconfiguration register, key in ‘o/r0x42’. This command will order your routerto reboot from flash ROMs. If you receive a message that these are corrupted, type in ‘o/r0x41’, which orders the router to boot from the boot ROMs.

To alter the configuration register in certain early routers, including theCGS, MGS, AGS, AGS+, and early 7000 series routers, you must move the hardwarejumpers. Sometimes, these are on the CSC processor card, and users must changethem by moving jumper eight to position fifteen.

DIP switches are employed by earlier versions of the IGS routers to set values in the configuration register. If it is encoded, continuing following the directions below.

Enter the command ‘configure memory’. This permits you to copy the router’s configuration file from NVRAM over to RAM. Note that prior to starting this task, the router’s configuration file will be empty. After completing this task, it will be the same configuration that was originally stored in NVRAM by the router’s administrator.

Key in the following command to access configuration mode: ‘configure terminal’.

Determine which of the following security options you wish to use:

Set a login password by entering the command ‘password’. If you do not want to use a secret password, type in ‘no enable secret’.

If you prefer to use a password for the console port, key in ‘line 0’. Then key in ‘password’. If you do not want to have a password on the console port, key in ‘line 0’, followed by ‘no password’.

Be aware that if you change any of these password settings, you will quiteprobably irritate any prior router administrator. It is not necessary to changeany of the passwords unless they are encoded. If, however, they were encoded, you must either change or decode them. To read further about the procedure fordecoding passwords, read the following FAQ on How do I decrypt Ciscopasswords?.
* By keying in [CTRL-Z], you can exit the configuration mode. Enter the command‘copy running-config startup config’, which will copy the edited configurationinto the startup-config. Entering this command allows you to save your changesto the router’s configuration.

Step 3 - Finish the Task

Power cycle your router.

Reset the configuration register to its previous value. To do this, key in‘configure terminal’. This allows you to enter the necessary mode. Set theregister value by typing ‘config-register’, and then enter the value that youpreviously recorded. If the value was not previously available, using a defaultsetting of 0x2102 is nearly always sufficient. (This value is the defaultsetting for most Cisco routers.)

1. If you are using the Router Switch Processor (RSP4), use the value 0x0101instead.
2. If any jumpers were moved, or DIP switches were set during this process, return them to their original settings.

With some routers, you may have to erase the entire configuration registry toretrieve your lost password. For example, users of the Catalyst 2820 ATM arerequired to access the Port Configuration Menu, and then rese registry valuesto factory default settings. The 500-CS model will revert to factory defualt very easily. Justdepress the reset button located atop the router’s case simultaneously withturning on the device. If you are using the Catalyst 3000, you will need todepress the SysReq button, which is located on the router’s back panel, for aperiod of five seconds. After you release the button, choose the menu option‘Clear Non-Volatile RAM’.

19402acef9c448ab82b6c044f77b317e

Cisco GLC-SX-MM SFP Transceivers

Are you looking to replace Cisco GLC-SX-MM transceivers that have failed your Cisco switch or router? There are many manufacturers that produce Cisco transceivers, but you may be one of "those people" who prefer to stick with an original product. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this approach. However, the price of a Cisco GLC-SX-MM will vary greatly depending if you choose a compatible or original version.

Please understand what I am about to tell about transceivers or GBICS. It's almost the same as shopping around for a light bulb. The performance variations are practically unnoticeable. What is noticeable is the amount you spent on your replacement transceivers. Yet again, people just like to stick to what is familiar. The ball is in your court in how you proceed.

Now, here is the fun part of promoting a product for the best company I have ever worked. Gencom transceivers are exclusively manufacturer-ed by Gencom that will save you that extra money to spend in other areas of your business. The quality is the same as original, but the price is more attractive.

Moving on to some useful technical information...

GLC-SX-MM Compatible Cisco Routers and Switches

Perhaps you are curious in the re-usability of your transceiver in multiple devices. At your professional level, I'm going to assume you are aware of this list. Remember to check with Cisco for specific part numbers your transceivers are compatible with. Well, I guess they pretty much could guard anything in your data center. At the slightest hint of intrusion they would instantly irradiate any threat to your network. Not by a automated piece of software, but a fully sophisticated robotic system equipped with a plasma cannon and multiple physical sensory detection abilities.

At the very least, you should not have a rat problem at the end of the first 7 days once activated. I should warn you, there have been times where the owner tries to return the unit, not the Cisco 6509, and he to experiences what one may call "technical difficulties". This could easily be conceived as some form of a intentional approach for worker's compensation. I'm not saying this is always the case but is typical.

I do not recommend sending in this network protection bot on any equipment valued over $5,000. Anything below this amount is highly enjoyable to watch in the event of a misfire or malfunction. This is simply my personal view on the matter. On a personal note, I would not recommend hosting a "bring your kid to work day" while the droid is active. This has never been a good idea.

I'm done spinning odd thoughts as I would like to hear some of yours. You are probably wondering how to install your newly purchased license to your SRX220 device. This process may be used for any Juniper SRX series device. To simply the process, please follow steps 1 to 3 carefully.

First, activate your subscription license by entering the authorization code and chassis serial number into the Subscription Registration system. The authorization code will be 16 digits and sent to the email address provided by the purchase order. It is also recommended that you register your device for faster support in the future.

For your convenience, follow these steps to register your product:
- Log into the Juniper Networks Subscription System
- Select Subscription Registration Tool
- Enter the device serial number and authorization code
- Click register product
- Finally, you will see a confirmation page that notifies you of successful registration

Next, install the license on the SRX by a manual or automatic method.

For Automatic Installation

Confirm the SRX appliance has connectivity to the Internet and DNS configured. Then run the following command to request the license from the License Management Server and install it:

root> request system license update

(The output of the command show configuration system license displays the default URL for the License Management Server.)

For Manual Installation

Licenses can also be loaded manually via JWeb, NSM, or using the CLI. The CLI command is as follows:

root> request system license add terminal
[Type ^D at a new line to end input, enter blank line between each license key]
Paste the license key and press enter
Type Ctrl+D

The License key should be added successfully.

Ensure the license is installed using the command:

root> show system license

For Antivirus, look for feature ' av_key_kaspersky_engine'.

For Web Filter (URL Filtering), look for feature 'wf_key_surfcontrol_cpa'.

For IDP, look for feature 'idp-sig'.

For Antispam, look for feature anti_spam_key_sbl

19402acef9c448ab82b6c044f77b317e

Juniper SRX100B Factory Reset Instructions

There are currently three ways you can reset your Juniper SRX100B back to the original factory configuration. The load factory-default command loads and commits the factory configuration, but using this command does not delete other configuration files on the device.

Type the load factory-default command.
root@host# load factory-default

Use the set system root-authentication plain-text-password command to set a new root password for the device.
root@host# set system root-authentication plain-text-password

Enter the root password, and enter it one more time for confirmation.
New password:
Retype new password:

Use the commit and-quit command to commit the configuration and exit from configuration mode if the configuration contains no errors and the commit succeeds.
root@host# commit and-quit

After the commit, the factory default configuration is the running configuration.

Using the Reset Config Button
The reset config button may only be found on the SRX650, SRX240, SRX210 and SRX100.

You can use the Reset Config button on the front panel of the SRX Series product to reset your hardware to its factory default configuration. If you use the Reset Config button to reset the device to its factory default configuration, all the configuration files, including the backup configuration and rescue configurations, are deleted. Otherwise, this means they are gone forever.

To reset the your Juniper device to its factory default configuration, press and hold the Reset Config button on the front panel of the SRX Series device for at least 15 seconds, until the Status LED glows amber.

Using the Root Password Recovery Process
If you can no longer log in to your SRX device, you can use the root password recovery process to reset the device to its factory default configuration. You must have console access to use the password recovery process. Please follow these steps from 1 to 20 carefully.

Power off the router by pressing the power button on the front panel.

Turn off the power to the management device, such as a laptop or desktop computer, that you want to use to access the CLI.

Plug one end of the Ethernet rollover cable supplied with the router into the RJ-45–to–DB-9 serial port adapter supplied with the router.

Plug the RJ-45–to–DB-9 serial port adapter into the serial port on the management device.

Connect the other end of the Ethernet rollover cable to the console port on the router.

Turn on the power to the management device.

On the management device, start your asynchronous terminal emulation application (such as Microsoft Windows Hyperterminal) and select the appropriate COM port to use (for example, COM1).

Configure the port settings: Bits per second = 9600, Data bits = 8, Parity = None, Flow control = None

Power on the router by pressing the power button on the front panel. Verify that the POWER LED on the front panel turns green. The terminal emulation screen on your management device displays the router’s boot sequence.

When the following prompt appears, press the Spacebar to access the router’s bootstrap loader command prompt:

Hit [Enter] to boot immediately, or space bar for command prompt. Booting [kernel] in 9 seconds...

At the following prompt, enter boot -s to start up the system in single-user mode.

ok boot -s

At the following prompt, enter recovery to start the root password recovery procedure.

Enter full pathname of shell or 'recovery' for root password recovery or RETURN for /bin/sh: recovery

Enter configuration mode in the CLI.

Set the root password. For example:

user@host# set system root-authentication plain-text-password

At the following prompt, enter the new root password. This all depends on the seller of equipment to know exactly what you will be receiving. I know by experience, if I went out and bought a Cisco switch on Ebay, I would run into the chance of receiving my item not knowing if the device really worked. Also, do I really want to deal with the frustration of my switch failing during setup?

There are many individuals and companies out there that claim their product is refurbished, but you as a consumer will never truly know how much care is put into that product before it arrives at your facility. However, Vology sells refurbished Cisco hardware that is fully inspected by certified network technicians to ensure you will never have to deal with that type of situation. Being established since 1999, the foundation of the company has been based on the principle of us testing the equipment before you receive it.

Lately, I'm seeing Cisco switches and routers appear on Sears. Yes, Sears?!? Why in the world does Google recommend Sears as being a great place to buy specific Cisco devices. If your device fails, will Sears have the capacity and knowledge to help you out in your situation? I'm sorry, but the calling of every gigantic brand jumping into every market is becoming ridiculous. Basic marketing tells you, stay in lines of what your company is all about without expanding and risking the integrity of your brand.

Anyways, buying refurbished Cisco equipment at Vology raises the bar of quality of the keyword "refurbished". You will not be receiving a scratch and dent product or a device that will explode in your face when you plug it in. Further more, your product will not talk back to you when trying to operate the Cisco IOS.
19402acef9c448ab82b6c044f77b317e

Help with Networking Part Numbers

I know you’re tired of trying to figure out the exact piece of networking equipment that you need for your network. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to digest the hundreds of thousands of part numbers to determine which part is what you are searching for and compatible. Network Liquidators has certified technicians to work with you in locating your required part. Then again, there are those select few that seem to have indexed every part number in their mind to know exactly what they need. You are defined as a walking, breathing networking part search engine, and I want to ensure my robot’s file is set to ALLOW when you visit me.

By letting our team assists you in your search for the correct part for Cisco, Nortel, Avaya, Juniper or any other brand we carry, you will save time. By you saving time you can aim your efforts in finally doing that last security modification of the day or break your high score on Minesweeper. Don’t be ashamed if you have uncertainty in locating your part. Think of the embarrassment you would endure if you spent $10,000+ on something only to determine the only way it will fit is by banging it in with a shake weight.

OK class, what did we learn today? I will not waste time searching for WS- whatever or SRX- blah blah blah. I will contact Network Liquidators and have their team give me a hand. I almost forgot to mention, you will be receiving a quote along with that support. Nothing super awesome in life is free. For example, if you want to raid in World of Warcraft and have a girlfriend, you better plan on giving her some cash so she can run to the mall and buy stuff she doesn’t need.
19402acef9c448ab82b6c044f77b317e

The Best Juniper Routers or the Best Network Routers Ever

The Best Routers Ever! Go Juniper Networks!

Juniper Networks has a complete line of Juniper routers that meet the demands for any business network. To be specific, the Juniper SRX series routers are the best router Juniper offers having multiple features of a router, firewall and gateway as one. If your company or organization has multiple computers set up, chances are you are already using a network router or network switch. However, if you you optimal performance, you should definitely switch in using Juniper SRX routers.

For small businesses: I recommend the SRX100 or the SRX210.
For medium-sized businesses: I recommend the SRX210 or SRX240.
For large businesses: I recommend the SRX650.
For campuses and data centers, I recommend the SRX3400, SRX3600, SRX5600 or SRX5800.

Are there alternatives in using Juniper routers in my network?
Yes, Cisco Systems has been developing network routers for quite some time now and have the largest presence in the networking hardware world. Foundry Networks, now known as Brocade, also has a decent selection of network routers that run a bit less expensive than Cisco or Juniper. Nortel Networks also has network routers although I would honestly stick to a Cisco, Juniper or Brocade solution.

What if I want to use Juniper routers but I'm stuck with Cisco?
Most network equipment resellers offer a "Buy it Back" program that allows you to trade your old Cisco routers to apply as a discount off a purchase of brand new Juniper Networks routers.

Juniper SRX as a firewall, how does this compare to Cisco ASA firewalls?
With a Juniper solution, you are getting extremely better performance for the price. You simply can not go wrong in using Juniper vs. Cisco.

For reference in what a network router is
A router is an electronic device that interconnects two or more computer networks, and selectively interchanges packets of data between them. Each data packet contains address information that a router can use to determine if the source and destination are on the same network, or if the data packet must be transferred from one network to another. Where multiple routers are used in a large collection of interconnected networks, the routers exchange information about target system addresses, so that each router can build up a table showing the preferred paths between any two systems on the interconnected networks.
19402acef9c448ab82b6c044f77b317e

Understanding the Secondhand Cisco Hardware Market and Pricing

You may be wondering why Network Liquidators doesn't list prices on our website. Not only is this true for Cisco hardware, but we generally don't list prices due to changes in the market. Just like market-fresh fish in your area, the market changes for secondhand networking and telecom hardware. Would you really want to buy a product on a website knowing you could have waited a couple days only to have saved even more? Not to mention, competitors often scrap and steal pricing.

Our sales staff is in tune with pricing for used and refurbished Cisco and every other brand we resell. There is a reason why businesses around the world trust and use Network Liquidators. We take pride knowing our customers receive the best customer service at a more than reasonable price. From someone who needs Cisco routers for CCNA training to multi-million orders for data centers, Network Liquidators will always provide the best support.

We also know the exposure for the secondhand Cisco has received bad press. This is mainly from sellers on Ebay who are not a part of the UNEDA organization. UNEDA is a heavily monitored group that ensures all of its members are not selling knock-off equipment. Now, Network Liquidators does manufacturer its own GBICS and accessories, but we MAKE SURE WE TELL YOU. If you prefer original, we have no problems fulfilling your order as so. As example, there can be as much as a 50% cost saving difference buying Gencom GBICS new even when comparing to used Cisco GBICS. As the compatible GBICS provide no difference in operation.

I don't want this post to sound too promotional. I am only clarifying why pricing is not listed on our website. You would be surprised in how many competitors list pricing in shopping cards only to issue refunds because they don't have the product in stock or are able to source it. Take it from me, click the green request a quote button and save yourself the trouble.
19402acef9c448ab82b6c044f77b317e

Used Cisco 2811 Routers for Your Business

Is your small or medium-size business in need of a good deal on used Cisco routers during these economic conditions?
